Our on site facilities include kiln drying and a machine shop to produce your customized teak requirements whether it be decking, margin boards, capping etc.

Burmese Teak
This remarkable timber is renowned for it's unsurpassed durability. For this reason Burmese Teak is the industry standard marine grade timber and Sydney Wood Industries are Sydney's largest Importer and supplier. Our Teak is genuine Burmese grown and kiln dried to your specification. Perfect also for exterior joinery, Burmese Teak is a beautiful alternative to the more commonly used cedar.

Why "Burmese" Teak?
While Tectona Grandis is endemic to many areas of S.E. Asia and the Sub-continent, it is the Teak sourced from Myanmar(Burma) that is the most sought after. The mechanical properties of Teak vary greatly depending on the exact environmental conditions it has been grown in.

Burmese Teak has for well over a hundred years been the timber of choice for the boat builder. Aside from the Teak's natural aesthetic appeal - golden honey brown colour and perfect knot free grain - Burmese Teak is also many times higher in oil content than its plantation grown sibling. This is the key to its longevity in the outdoor and marine environment.

Gaboon Marine Plywood

A high quality, high strength plywood, Gaboon (known also as Okoume) is also used for its lightweight nature. Sydney Wood Industries now carry large volumes of this product from 3mm-18mm. All material is BS1088 graded, with 100% Gaboon construction. Please call us for pricing details.
